Don Frank Uelmen, age 65 years found peace in the arms of Jesus early Saturday morning, June 16, 2012. He had been a resident of the Samaritan Health Center for the past 3 ½ months with complications of diabetes.
Don was born September 6, 1946 in Kewaskum the son of Frank and Alice Uelmen. On May 6, 1989 he was united in marriage to Sheryl Bazelak at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. On May 15, 1990 their daughter Tracy Lynn Uelmen was born.
Don worked at Weiland’s Recreation, Amity Leather, the Threshold and was a custodian for the West Bend School District. He was a big fan of the Brewers, Packers, Badgers and Bucks and enjoyed NASCAR racing and fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Sheryl, his daughter Tracy, 2 sisters: Joyce (Joe) Heller and Bonnie Uelmen, 3 nephews: Brian Heller and his special friend Anna, Scott (Nicole) Heller and their children Emmerson and Beckham Heller, and Nathan Uelmen, his niece Nicole (Mike) Whitaker and their children Zachary and Isaiah Sippel and his mother-in-law Sara Bazelak.
Don is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Alice Uelmen, a sister at birth, aunts, uncles and grandparents.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend with Rev. Gerald Brittain officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends for a period of visitation from 4:30 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association are appreciated.
